The Genome Partnership is a not-for-profit organization and its mission is to advance research, promote education and expand commerce in genome science and technology.
What a 501(c)(6) is
The Genome Partnership is a 501(c)(6) not-for-profit, the classification the tax code gives to organizations formed to advance a shared professional or business field rather than to return money to an owner. Business leagues and professional associations sit in the same category. No net earnings go to any private shareholder or individual.
Our community includes the people and organizations advancing genomics, from scientists and researchers working to improve human health, address global food challenges, and drive scientific discovery to the companies developing the technologies, tools, and solutions that move the field forward. Together, they make up the collaborative community that comes together at AGBT meetings to exchange ideas, build connections, and advance genomics.
