How abstracts are selected at each meeting, what the deadlines are, and what happens after you submit.
The scientific organizing committee relies on abstract submissions to build a part of the scientific program. Submissions not selected for a talk will be further considered for a poster presentation.
How the program is built
What the committee is looking for
Work that is new, emerging, or advances the field. AGBT has a long history of showcasing genome technologies and discoveries early, from next-generation sequencing to single-cell methods to AI-driven analysis. The committees look for work that gives the AGBT community something new to learn, whether through a new method, application, dataset, or finding.
If your abstract is not selected for a talk
Most work that is not selected for a talk is considered for the poster sessions, which carry a large part of the science at every AGBT meeting. The General Meeting is the most competitive of the three, and a submission not being selected there does not mean the work is not a fit for AGBT.
