Peter Sudmant

Peter Sudmant, PhD, is an Associate Professor of Integrative Biology at the University of California, Berkeley, where he leads the Sudmant Lab. His research combines genomics, computational biology, statistics, and experimental approaches to investigate genetic and molecular diversity at both the organismal and cellular levels.

Dr. Sudmant’s work focuses on the evolution, causes, and consequences of aging, as well as genome structure, somatic mutation, cellular diversity, and post-transcriptional gene regulation. His laboratory also studies genetic adaptations in long- and short-lived species to better understand how evolution shapes stress responses, longevity, and biological diversity.
