Hans Björnsson

Hans Tómas Björnsson, MD, PhD, is Professor of Translational Medicine and Pediatrics at the University of Iceland, Chief of the Department of Genetics and Molecular Biology at Landspítali–The National University Hospital of Iceland, and Professor of Genetics and Pediatrics (part time) at Johns Hopkins University. He is internationally recognized for his work on Mendelian disorders of the epigenetic machinery and the development of precision therapeutic strategies for rare genetic diseases. His research integrates human genetics, epigenomics, disease modeling, and translational medicine to identify mechanisms of disease and opportunities for intervention. Dr. Björnsson has received several prestigious awards, including the NIH Director’s Early Independence Award and the William K. Bowes Jr. Award in Medical Genetics.
