Tim Kelliher (USA)

Tim Kelliher is the Global Head of Crop Trait and Technology Discovery at Syngenta Seeds. He is a dedicated researcher specializing in crop trait analysis and the advancement of breeding technologies. His work revolves around harnessing genome engineering to facilitate the efficient discovery and implementation of innovative traits, with the ultimate goal of revolutionizing plant breeding and germplasm development.Tim’s areas of expertise encompass genome editing for the creation of unique reproductive traits, hybridization systems, haploid induction, genome doubling, genetic gain acceleration, as well as plant developmental and cell biology.Tim joined Syngenta in 2013 and has held several roles of increasing responsibility across the research and development function. He was named a Syngenta Science Fellow in 2019 due to his dedicated work and program leadership in new breeding technologies including Doubled Haploids, Genome Editing applications, and Hybridization systems.He received his bachelors of art degree in Biology and went on to earn his PhD in Biology from Stanford University, where he conducted extensive research on maize development and reproductive genetics.
