Antonio (Toni) Reverter

After completing a Bachelor of Science in Veterinary Sciences at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, Spain, Toni received a USDA PhD scholarship and relocated to Colorado State University in 1990 to pursue a dual degree: a Master of Science in Statistics and a PhD in Animal Sciences. In 1995, he became a member of the Animal Genetics and Breeding Unit (AGBU) at the University of New England in Armidale, NSW, Australia. During his tenure at AGBU, Toni engaged in various tasks, including computer programming and quantitative analyses for BREEDPLAN, the national genetic evaluation system for beef cattle in Australia. Since 2002, Toni has been situated in Brisbane with CSIRO, the Australia’s national science agency, where he contributes expertise in computational and systems biology, as well as quantitative genetics and genomics.Recently, Toni has concentrated his research on understanding the elements that influence the accuracy, bias and dispersion of genomic predictions. Additionally, he is dedicated to the development and commercial implementation of genomic tools that offer valuable insights into the health, productivity, and reproductive capabilities of individual animals, aiming to significantly enhance the sustainability of Australia’s most prominent and valuable cattle breeds.
