Alain Tissier (Germany)

After a postdoc at the Sainsbury Laboratory , Alain Tissier was hired as a research scientist at the CEA in Cadarache, France. From 2003 to 2008, he founded and managed a plant biotech company specialized in metabolic engineering. In 2009 -2010, Alain was a professor in plant biochemistry at the University of Montpellier, France. In 2010, he moved to the Leibniz Institute of Plant Biochemistry in Halle, where he has been heading the Department of Cell and metabolic Biology. As of August 2022, Alain is also the managing director of the IPB.Alain’s research revolves around three main topics: 1) the metabolism and development of glandular trichomes; 2) the biosynthesis and function of plant terpenoids; 3) metabolic and genome engineering.
